Fundación de Apoyo Infantil (FAI) Celebrates 30 Years and the Opening of the Community Ecology Center

12/28/2022

A dream come true, the Ecological Community Center, CECE.

Finally the dream came true after several years of working for it, the children were able to take ownership of the place, where they learn, where they respect each other and discover new ways and healthy habits to interact with their families and friends, generating changes. 30 years of work favoring learning through participatory methodologies promoting the rights of children have been accomplished.

On November 24, FAI was in a festive mood as, in the presence of all its friends, the inauguration of the CECE Ecological Community Center took place. The FAI Board welcomed government authorities, organizations, businessmen and the general public in an atmosphere of great joy. Jesús Oviedo Herrera, Secretary of Social and Human Development, as well as Mr. Mauricio Trejo Pureco, municipal president of San Miguel de Allende, the state director of INAEBA and former municipal president, Mr. Jesús Correa Ramírez, delivered very emotional words in which commitments and alliances were made to continue working to make children's rights a reality.

Afterwards, the young girl Ma. Fernanda Juarez Villasana greeted those present and said the following: "Here at FAI, I have learned the importance of caring for water, as well as the separation of waste," she also said that she likes the Center's facilities and that she is currently taking English and taekwondo classes, mentioning that she likes to participate in the activities that take place there.

The guests, whose excitement was noticeable, cut the inaugural ribbon and the CECE music group presented the Ode to Joy. After that, a tour of the CECE facilities took place, showing all those present each of the spaces and how it works and  such as: The aroma garden, the compost, the propagation area, the pollinator garden, the orchard, the tree of abundance, the dry toilets, the gray water filter, the rainwater collection and the different rooms where the workshops are taught as well as the administrative offices, ending with a conviviality.

Every day we thank all our collaborators for making this dream possible--and especially Mrs. Eva Helena Axelsson for the donation of this land where the children will enjoy and learn.
